The main function of Public Relation Secretariat is to give a good impression to the community (students, administrations and lecturers) and also the outsiders towards SRC and IIUM. There are several actions that have been taken to achieve this objective.
1. DOWN TO EARTH
Date : 23rd July, 27th July, 4th August, 12 August, 20 August,
24th August, 2nd September, 9th September 2009
Target Group : IIUM Community
Venue : Mahallah Faruq, Ali, Usman, Siddiq, Bilal, Nusaibah,
Maryam, Asiah, Safiyyah, Ameenah, Hafsa
Public Relation (PR) Secretariat managed to handle a program ‘Down To Earth’ with the cooperation from Welfare Secretariat and other SRC exco members. The modus operandi is to distribute SRC poster in those mahallat for the purpose of introducing the new elected SRC exco members’ i.e., SRC 2008/2009. In addition, the purpose of this activity is to facilitate students to communicate directly with the SRC exco members. By that, it creates an easier way for students to lodge any complaints or reports to SRC. We cannot go to all mahallat due to consideration of the participants and time constraint.
By conducting this activity, we had received many complaints, comments, together with some suggestions by IIUM community. The students become more open minded and liked to share their problems with SRC. Special thanks dedicated to IIUM community who had given excellent and positive responses to us. Not to forget, MRC who are willing to help us with the venue and hospitality. With regard to the several complaints that we received, those has been delivered to the relevant authorities in IIUM to reconcile the disputes.
2. SRC ONE STOP CENTER
Date : 21st July, 29th July, 6th August, 14th August, 19th August,
26th August, 1st September, 9th September 2009
Target Group : IIUM Students
Venue : All Kulliyyat
‘SRC One-Stop Centre’ begun at the second half of the tenure of SRC 2008/2009 after discovering some difficulties faced by the IIUM community in reaching us. We managed to visit and meet students in their own kulliyyah such as Kulliyyah of IRKHS and Institute of Education, Kulliyyah of Engineering, Kulliyyah of Economics, etc. In this tour, we managed to distribute the SRC bulletins, magazines and also face- mask to the students during the HIN1 outbreak. However due to the lack of promotion, many students still do not realize and participate in our tour. But we had tried our best in promoting this activity because the main purpose of it is to promote SRC programs and to show our concern towards students.

The visits were fulfilled by some discussion between SRC exco members and the visitors. In every visit, we managed to have a special slot with them to discuss about the exclusive attributes of IIUM and the uniqueness of this university. Besides, the discussion also touches on the role and function of SRC towards the IIUM communities. Alhamdulillah, as God wills, each visit were run smoothly and we received a positive responses from them.

SRC had received a lot of invitational program from other universities and also organization. Some of the program gave a lot of benefit to us as well as the students, but there are also some invitations that are not relevant to us but it can give positive exposure to the students. The main problem that we have is some of the programs were held during the class hour. Hence, sometimes we failed to fulfill their invitation since study being our first priority. We can say that, the rationale behind those invitations is to give a good exposure and beneficial information for students as they will become a good leader of the Ummah in the future.

5. EXCHANGE STUDENTS PROGRAM
Meetings and a proposal had been submitted to Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Kulliyyah of Engineering, Dr. Zuraida Ahmad. She already had meetings with Sis. Aishah and Bro. Shamsul, International Centre Exchange Office, ICEO. Their responses are that, our kulliyyah can support the expenditure of the students but on the other hand, it is better to increase the opportunity to other students for the exchange students program. From the meeting, we had been informed that Kulliyyah of Engineering had managed to make a deal with LEHIGH University, PA, US, ISAT, France (Automotive), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and TIT, Japan. Previously our kulliyyah just managed to send our students to UNiSA, Australia.
